OXAZ unveils OVERCAP – the first all-weather removable hood for birders and wildlife watchers
29 July 2020
The result of over three years of research, developments and tests in real conditions has led to French startup OXAZ designing the OVERCAP – a unique and convenient weather accessory for birders, photographers and general strollers in the great outdoors.
The OVERCAP is the world’s first rigid removable hood suitable for all weather conditions: rain, wind, sun and snow. OVERCAP offers a 4 in 1 protection for optimal comfort. Attachable to any backpack, thanks to the hood straps, OVERCAP unfolds with a single motion and effectively protects you while ensuring total freedom of movement.
OXAZ says that bulky umbrellas, flying caps, annoying hoods could be a thing of the past as none of these accessories adequately meet the outdoors aficionado’s needs for long periods of time. They are neither practical nor comfortable.
It folds and unfolds in a simple motion. It can handle 50 mph (80km/h) winds, with 360 degree head protection. Thanks to the thin hoops, your head can move freely, without being in contact with the fabric. Its design allows for natural ventilation. Your hands can remain free. The hood is removable and can be attached to any backpack. Once folded, it can easily be stored in a compact pouch.
Key OVERCAP features
The canvas material is recyclable and toxic free (OEKO-TEX® labeled product).
From 30th June to 31st July 2020, nature enthusiasts will be able to pre-order their OVERCAP, via an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign > here

- A removable neck protector, which blocks the wind, and a retractable cap for additional face
protection.
Many useful accessories
In heavy rain, a rain cap add-on attaches easily and prevents rain from dripping between your back and your backpack – a well-known drawback of traditional rain caps .
For humid climates, a mosquito net can be attached to offer protection from insect bites and is designed so that the netting does not touch your face.
The provided harness allows you to wear OVERCAP without a backpack.
