EVENTS: Join SWAROVSKI OPTIK at WWT London for a guided bird walk and the opportunity to test out their latest optics
8 September 2021
Experience the very best early autumn birding has to offer on Friday, 1st October at WWT London, as their warden will guide you around the wildlife reserve to see what’s about and give you the opportunity to try out the latest Swarovski optics.
SWAROVSKI OPTIK will have their experts on site, showcasing the latest optics technology developed by their factory in Austria. Whether you’re an optics novice keen to learn more or an expert looking to invest in a significant piece of equipment, this is a perfect opportunity to try out scopes and binoculars in the beautiful surroundings of the award-winning WWT London nature reserve.
You will have the chance to try out optics in the Headley Hide free of charge. We are also giving you the opportunity to try optics out and about on the reserve, by booking onto one of three guided walks with the WWT Reserve team.
At 2pm there will be a talk from Mike Dilger, who will be speaking about his Wild (Covid) Lockdown and finding solace in nature. This talk will be suitable for adults and children over 14 years of age.
Schedule:
From 9:30 am to 3:30 pm - Headley Hide - Swarovski Optik's team showcasing the latest optics.
Meeting point: In front of Headley Hide (10 min before start)
10 am, 11 am & 12 noon - Guided Reserve Walks - Experience the very best autumn has to offer on our nature reserve. Our warden will guide you around the wildlife reserve to see what’s about and given you the opportunity to try out the latest Swarovski optics.
Tickets for the above can be purchased here and are £5.50 per person. The maximum capacity per walk is 10.
2 pm - Mike Dilger talk - “My Wild (Covid) Lockdown.” As the global pandemic shook the planet to its foundations, one small unintended consequence of lockdown was that Mike Dilger’s normal day job of spotting and filming wildlife in all four corners of Britain virtually disappeared in a stroke. Initially with his wings clipped and confined to barracks, Mike couldn’t shake the feeling he was missing out. But as spring turned to summer, what kept his sanity was the simple pleasure of rediscovering the wildlife just beyond his own family’s doorstep. Featuring clips from The One Show, Mike reveals how he and his son Zachary managed to find the silver lining to the darkest of clouds cast by Covid 19.
Mike's talk will run on a first-come, first-served basis. The maximum capacity is 90 and will take place in the Thames Water H20 building.
Please be aware that normal admission charges apply - if you are NOT a WWT member you will need to purchase an entrance ticket in addition to your event ticket.
Enjoy the day folks!
